BRADFORD — A man has been jailed for more than three years for a racist attack outside Bradford College, according to 5Pillars. David Noutch, 32, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday, October 14.

The court heard that the attack took place on Great Horton Road on October 9, 2025. Noutch directed racist abuse at Asian staff and students, threatened people with a pair of garden secateurs and attacked security guards who tried to intervene, 5Pillars reported.

One of the victims, Mohsin Sagir, 37, a British-Pakistani Muslim security guard, read a victim impact statement to the court. He said he felt personally targeted and humiliated. He condemned the racial and religious hatred behind the abuse, saying it had no place in society, according to 5Pillars.

Prosecutors said Noutch approached a group of Asian men shortly before 9.30am and behaved aggressively. CCTV footage showed him striking one man in the face. Another guard, Mahmood Hassan, sustained a knee injury and later reported anxiety, sleepless nights and flashbacks, the court heard.

Noutch pleaded guilty to several offences, including racially aggravated common assault and threatening someone with a bladed article in public. Judge Patrick Palmer described the offences as extremely serious. He praised the guards for their courage, 5Pillars reported.

Noutch's defence barrister, Jeremy Barton, said his client was remorseful. He said Noutch had been sleeping rough and had not taken prescribed medication.

Background

The court heard that Noutch had 37 previous convictions covering 64 offences, including offences involving weapons, violence and public disorder. He was sentenced to 37 months, with half to be served in custody and the remainder on licence. Having already spent more than a year on remand, he was expected to serve about another six months in prison, according to 5Pillars.
