Indonesia reports record high religious harmony index score
The Indonesian government's communications agency praised the Ministry of Religious Affairs for a record score on the country's religious harmony index. The score was reported by one source, Antara.

JAKARTA — Indonesia's government communications agency praised the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Monday for a record score on the national Religious Harmony Index, according to Antara. The agency said the ministry had strengthened religion as a force for national unity.
The head of the agency, Syahganda Nainggolan, spoke at a press conference on the ministry's two-year performance, according to Antara. He said the ministry had succeeded in using religion as a tool for national unity. "That is what I found remarkable," he was quoted as saying.
According to Antara, the index was measured in 2025 with the University of Indonesia's Center for Pesantren and Community Development. The score was 77.89, the highest since 2015. The survey measured three dimensions: tolerance at 88.82, equality at 79.35, and togetherness at 65.49.
Antara reported that Syahganda also linked religious values to efforts against corruption. He said the ministry had succeeded in using religion to free society from a culture of corruption. Antara said the ministry was drafting digital bureaucracy policies to reduce cash transactions and face-to-face meetings. It also said the ministry worked with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on an interfaith anti-corruption book and a forum for anti-corruption educators.
The report does not say how the 2025 score compares with other years beyond the 2015 starting point. It does not give the number of survey respondents in the current release. Antara's article links to a separate report citing 5,730 respondents for a religious harmony survey, but that link is not part of the main story.
