How we use AI
Zenga News uses AI-assisted tools throughout its newsroom. We want readers to know exactly how.
What the tools do
- Find: they monitor news feeds, wire services and official sources in many languages.
- Filter: they check whether a report is relevant, and screen out hate speech, graphic and sexual content.
- Check: they group reports about the same event and count independent sources. Single-source reports are held back or attributed as claims.
- Draft and translate: they write a first version of the story from several sources, and translate it into our other languages.
What people decide
Our editor sets the rules the tools follow: which sources are trusted, how many sources a story needs, which topics need extra care and what language we use. Important stories are reviewed by a person. Readers can report errors on every story, and corrections are handled by our editor.
Labels
Stories drafted or translated with AI are labelled on the page. Audio voice-overs on our videos use synthetic voices and are labelled as such on social media.
